Essential responsibilities specific to this job:

•Establishes and maintains productive and positive relationships with key union representatives
•Participates in the organization’s collective bargaining process and works to ensure that labor agreements are implemented and administered appropriately
•Represents the organization in grievances and arbitration and seeks to resolve disputes between workers and management •Plans and implements long-term labor contract negotiation strategies
•Reports on organizational activities to relevant government agencies, such as the National Labor Relations Board or the Wage-Hour Division of the Bureau of Labor.
•Contributes to other functional areas (such as compensation and benefits, recruitment, training, and development) as they pertain to the organization's unionized workforce
•Analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions
•Coaches/advises employees and management through sensitive HR issues to resolve conflict and seek workable solutions •Investigates work-related or compliance issues and prepares summary reports, conclusions, and recommendations
•Drafts proposals, rules, or regulations
•Ensures that union agreements are consistent with policies and regulations.
•Interprets formal communications between management and labor
•Conducts fact finding analyses related to labor grievances
•Plans, designs, implements, and conducts training to management on labor relations
•Advise management on contracts, worker grievances, and disciplinary procedures
•Participates or lead meetings between management and labor
•Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, management, and various agencies at all levels of the organization and deliver challenging information effectively
•Uses diplomacy, reasoning, and de-escalation skills to manage difficult or emotional situations
•Presents facts and recommendations verbally and in writing
•Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion in working with sensitive information
